MATERIALS
You’ll need thread of two colors – dark gray and white. I
use Gazzal Baby Cotton. And here comes my second piece
of advice – never economize on threads if you want a nice
and stylish toy. Never choose cheap acrylic. All your
efforts and time will be lost as acrylic is able to kill all
your efforts.

It’s up to you to choose the colors for stripes on the top
and the color of the skirt.
My top has black and white stripes. Be sure to have a
little pink cotton for cheeks. We’ll also need eyes (I use
plastic ones on screw fastening). You can use black
beads, too. You’ll also need scissors, a needle with a big
eye and filler (holofiber) which should also be of high
quality.

    head.

CHEEKS (2 details)

  1. 7 sc in magic ring, slip stitch. (leave some
    yarn tail for sewing up).
I start sewing up parts with the head. As a rule I
first crochet all parts of the head, sew up the ears
between the 7-th and 8-th row from the place I finished
crocheting the head, folding the ear in half at the base.
Sew up the cheeks, embroider the eyebrows and the
nose. When the head is ready, it’s easier to decide
whether the toy will be a he-hare or a she-hare. In this
case it will be a she-hare though I thought all through
the work that I was making a he-hare.
So the head is ready and we go to crocheting the body.

BODY
We start crochet the body with white yarn and then
change the color to the black (each color is changed
after two rows 2*2).

  1. 6 sc in magic ring
  2. 6 inc (12)
  3. (1 sc, inc)*6 (18)

  7. (5 sc, inc)*6 (42)
  8. 20 sc, inc, 20 sc, inc (44)
Then crochet 5 rows of 44 sc, Stuff if it’s
    necessary.
  9. (20 sc, dec)*2 (42)
    2 rows of 42 sc
  10. (19 sc, dec)*2 (40)
  11. 2 rows of 40 sc
  12. 4 sc, dec, (8 sc, dec)*3, 4 sc (36)
    2 rows of 36 sc
  13. 2 sc, dec (4 sc, dec)*5, 2 sc (30)
    2 rows of 30 sc
  14. (3 sc, dec)*6 (24)
  15. 24 sc
  16. 1 sc, dec ( 2 sc, dec)*5, 1 sc (18)
  17. (7 sc, dec)*2 (16)
Fasten off. Leave some yarn tail to sew up the
    head.

LEGS (2 details)
We start crochet with white yarn.

  1. 6 sc in magic ring
  2. 6 inc (12)
Crochet 7 rows of 12 chains, then change to the
    gray color.
Then crochet 25 rows of 12 sc with the gray
    yarn .Stuff if it’s necessary.
  3. dec 4sc dec fold in half and crochet together 4sc.
The second leg is crochet in the same way
leaving some yarn tail for sewing the parts.

ARMS (2 details)
We start crochet with gray yarn.

  1. 6 sc in magic ring
  2. (1 sc, inc)3 (9) 9 rows of 9 sc Change the yarn to white and crochet 12 rows of 9 sc, changing the black and white yarn after each 2 rows (22). Fold the part side to side and crochet together.
Leave some yarn tail for sewing up. I don’t fill the arms.
    TAIL
  3. 6 sc in magic ring
  4. 6 inc (12)
  5. (1 sc, dec)*3 (9)
Fasten off. and leave some yarn tail for sewing
    up the parts.
The only thing left is to sew the parts together and
    dress the hare.

Sew the arms into the third row from the top
approximately 9 sc apart from each other.
The legs are sewn as you like. Use pins to find the
right place for the leg, after that you sew up the tail.
To make sure we’ve made a she-hare, we need a simple
skirt. I remind you that I planned a pattern how to make
a he-hare, but recently I bought a nice piece of cotton
fabric. I liked the color so much that I changed my mind
in favor to a she-hare.

SKIRT
We’ll need a piece of fabric approx.40 *12 cm.
I don’t use a pattern for cutting the skirt. I just
stitch two edges together using a sewing machine, put in
elastic band for clothing at the waist. The bottom of
the skirt may be stitched or left as it is depending on
the fabric quality.
The skirt is ready. You see it is quite easy to make.
Now it’s up to you to decide how to decorate the toy.
You can use flowers on the head, a nice
collar crochet, knitted or sewn, a ribbon, a piece
of lace.
The toy is ready! I hope you enjoyed making it.
