Main detail
Crochet, using blue color.
Ch 25.
1 rnd: from the 2nd ch from the hook 23 sc, 3 sc into the last ch (now, crochet the yarn end from the beginning into the work), along the other side of the chain (photo 1), 22 sc, inc (50)
Place the marker (photo 2).
2 rnd: inc, 22 sc, 3 inc, 22 sc, 2 inc (56)
3 rnd: 1 sc, inc, 22 sc, (1 sc, inc)*3, 22 sc, (1 sc, inc)*2 (62)
4 rnd: 2 sc, inc, 22 sc, (2 sc, inc)*3, 22 sc, (2 sc, inc)*2 (68)
5 rnd: 68 sc (68)
6 rnd: 3 sc, inc, 22 sc, (3 sc, inc)*3, 22 sc, (3 sc, inc)*2 (74)
7 rnd: 2 sc, inc, 26 sc, (inc, 4 sc)*2, inc, 26 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc, 2 sc (80)
8 rnd: 5 sc, inc, 22 sc, (5 sc, inc)*3, 22 sc, (5 sc, inc)*2 (86)
9 rnd: 86 sc (86) In the next round, the decreases must be on the top and bottom parts of the whale’s body (photo 3). If necessary, make shift stitches.
10 rnd: 1 sc, dec, 36 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec, 40 sc, dec (82)
11-28 rnds (18 rounds): 82 sc (82)
In this step, insert the eyes.
Pin the eyes’ location between 19 and 20 rounds at a distance of 9.5 cm from the bottom part of the whale or 14-15 stitches (photo 5)

Pay attention so the eyes are placed at the same level, (photo 7). Using YarnArt Jeans yarn in color white, embroider the white part of the eye (photo 8-10). Make a knot with yarn ends on the wrong side of the detail
29-38 rnds (10 rounds): 82 sc (82). At this point, the head of the whale must resemble a square shape (photo 12).
If you end up with a rectangle (it may happen, depending on the yarn and lot), undo a few rounds.
Fold the piece in half so that the 1st row is parallel to the work surface (photo 12)
Very important, that the 39th round begins at the bottom of the whale. To do so, I crocheted extra 2 sc (photo 13) (you may need a different amount of stitches), place the marker. This will be a new beginning of the round.
From 39 to 54 rounds decreases should be distributed evenly in the top part of the whale (photo 13), if necessary, make shift stitches .

39 rnd: 32 sc, 10 dec, 30 sc (72)
40 rnd: 72 sc (72). Stuff the detail tightly, shaping it into a square.
41 rnd: 27 sc, (1 sc, dec)*5, 30 sc (67)
42 rnd: 67 sc (67)
43 rnd: 22 sc, (2 sc, dec)*5, 25 sc (62)
44 rnd: 22 sc, (1 sc, dec)*6, 22 sc (56)
45 rnd: 56 sc (56)
46 rnd: 18 sc, (3 sc, dec)*4, 18 sc (52)
47 rnd: 21 sc, dec, (2 sc, dec)*2, 21 sc (49)
48 rnd: 19 sc, 5 dec, 20 sc (44)
49-50 rnds (2 rounds): 44 sc (44)
51 rnd: 16 sc, (1 sc, dec)*4, 16 sc (40)
52-53 rnds (2 rounds): 40 sc (40)
54 rnd: 10 sc, (1 sc, dec)*6, 12 sc (34)

60 rnd: (5 sc, dec, 6 sc, dec)*2 (26)
61-63 rnds (3 rounds): 26 sc (26)
64 rnd: 3 dec (decreases must be located in the bottom part of the whale.
If necessary, make shift stitches or undo some stitches), 7 sc, 4 inc, 9 sc (27)
65 rnd: 27 sc (27)
66 rnd: 3 dec, 5 sc, (1 sc, inc)*4, 6 sc, dec (27)
67-68 rnds (2 rounds): 27 sc (27)
69 rnd: (8 sc, inc)*3 (30)
70rnd: (9 sc, inc)*3 (33)
71 rnd: (5 sc, inc)*5, 3 sc (38)
72 rnd: 38 sc (38)

Begin crocheting a tail.
Stuff the tail, but not as tight.
For each part of the tail, we need 19 sc.
Fold the tail in half and crochet the required number of sc so that the beginning of the round is strictly at the bottom of the tail. I made 2 sc (photos 17-18)

Place the marker. This will be a new beginning of the round.
Crochet the first part of the tail.
73 rnd: 2 inc, 7 sc, turn the detail, count 10 stitches from the other side of the marker and crochet them as follows: 8 sc, 2 inc (23)
74 rnd: 23 sc (23)
75 rnd: 9 sc, 2 dec, 10 sc (21)
76 rnd: 1 sc, inc, 15 sc, (1 sc, inc)*2 (24)
77-78 rnds (2 rounds): 24 sc (24)
79 rnd: 5 sc, 5 dec, 9 sc (19). The decreases must be located in the inner part of the tail (photo 20).

80 rnd: 6 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec, 8 sc (17)
81 rnd: inc, 1 sc, 5 dec, 3 sc, 2 inc (15)
82 rnd: 2 sc, 6 dec, 1 sc (9), sl st.
Cut and secure the yarn. Tighten the hole.
Crochet the second part of the tail.
73 rnd: fold the tail, find the center (photo 22), and attach the yarn, ch 1, 1 sc into the same st where ch 1 is coming out, inc, 8 sc, turn, along the other side: 7 sc, 2 inc (23). Place the marker. This will be a new beginning of the round.

74 rnd: 1 sc BLO, 22 sc (23)
75 rnd: 10 sc, 2 dec, 9 sc (21)
76 rnd: (1 sc, inc)*2, 15 sc, 1 sc, inc (24)
77-78 rnds (2 rounds): 24 sc (24)
79 rnd: 7 sc, 5 dec, 7 sc (19). The decreases must be located in the inner part of the tail (photo 25).

80 rnd: 7 sc, dec, 1 sc, dec, 7 sc (17)
81 rnd: 3 inc, 1 sc, 5 dec, 3 sc (15)
82 rnd: 2 sc, 6 dec, 1 sc (9), sl st.
Cut and secure the yarn, leaving a long end. Tighten the hole.
Using the same yarn end, sew the hole at the junction (photo 27).

Fin
2 details.
Crochet, using blue yarn.
Ch 2.
1 rnd: from the 2nd ch from the hook 6 sc (6). Place the marker.
2 rnd: 6 sc (6)
In the next round crochet the yarn tail from the beginning into the work.
3 rnd: (2 sc, inc)*2 (8)

5 rnd: 3 sc, 2 inc, 4 sc, inc (13)
6-9 rnds (4 rounds): 13 sc (13)
10 rnd: 5 sc, dec, 4 sc, dec (11)
11 rnd: 2 sc, dec, 3 sc, dec, stop crocheting 2 stitches before the end of the round (9)
Do not take the marker off!
Fold the detail in half. Crochet 4 sc, inserting the hook into the stitches of both layers.
Cut and secure the yarn, leaving a long end for sewing.

Assembly and Design

Pin the fin between 25 and 28 rounds at a distance of 4 cm from the eyes.
The marker from the beginning of the round should be facing you. Sew on the fin.

Locate the mouth with pins.
Make stitches using black YarnArt Jeans yarn
Yarn length of the yarn for the mouth is about 150 cm.

Wrap the stitches as shown in the photo. This will make the smile more expressive and bright.
Whale is finished!
